Our mission is to change lives and make disciples for Jesus Christ.
Sandbridge Community Chapel UMC is a United Methodist Church located in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach. We minister to the spiritual needs of a unique seaside community. We strive, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, to meet the needs of a diverse group of people who come together to gain a personal relationship with Christ, the living God, and grow in fellowship with one another, and to lead all who enter our influence into a personal relationship with Him. We believe in offering the love of God without exception to all, sharing the wisdom of His gospel, and living lives that reflect His love.
Sandbridge Community Chapel strives to be both a safe harbor and light house, guiding all adrift in the sea of life into the loving nurture of our community of faith and leading us out to boldly proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. In so being, we ask our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to pilot and steer our lives.

Director of Youth & Children’s Ministries
Stephen is a Kellam alum and multi-generation local. He grew up in Pungo and has always considered Sandbridge his home, having been on the beach and in the water surfing here for 30 years. This small community and rural beach is where his heart is. Stephen feels that it is a blessing that God has given him to be at this church and spread the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ to the youth in our community and beyond. For the Joyner's, youth ministry is a family affair. His wife Emily is the backbone to the ministry and their children are with them each step. During the day Stephen is kept busy as a Health/PE teacher for Virginia Beach. He enjoys spending free time with his wife and 3 children in Sandbridge visiting friends and keeping active.
Interim Director of Day School
Angela is an active member of the church and has been employed by the school for the past four years. She has lived in Sandbridge for five years with her husband of 28 years, Randy, and their four sons. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from East Carolina University. During the following years, she taught preschool, kindergarten, third and fourth grades. She was recognized with a Literary Award by the City of Chesapeake. Angela’s education in music brought her an opportunity to perform at Disney and subsequently has been used in teaching and the church. Her life long passion for teaching children and helping them to cultivate a relationship with the Lord is still her burning desire. Her motto is, “I didn’t choose teaching, teaching chose me.” In her free time, Angela is an active volunteer in the Sandbridge community and relishes family time with her husband and children. She also enjoys supporting her boys in both their education and sports, plus capturing special moments of her family and friends in photography.
Church Secretary Tina moved to Sandbridge 5 years ago with her husband, Mark. They have been married for 20 years and traveled the world. They share their house with two fur babies: their dog Heidi and cat Booboo. Tina feels so blessed to be the secretary for Sandbridge Community Chapel. She has been working with the church since November 2014. Prior to coming to work at Sandbridge Community Chapel, she was a middle school social studies teacher for 5 years, and a retired 22 year Navy Veteran. In her free time, she likes to take her dog Heidi for walks on the beach with her dog walking group. Tina also loves to volunteer at the Church just to help out.
Summer is a Sandbridge native and has lived in Sandbridge all of her life. She graduated from Kellam High School and studied Natural Science at Tidewater Community College. Summer owns her own business, Sandbridge Events & Gift Baskets, and is certified in both wedding and event planning.
